Spinach ready for harvest

Spinach is a member of the Amaranth family and counts beets, swiss chard, and believe it or not, quinoa and your basic tumbleweed (Russian thistle) as some of its many cousins.

Spinach is loaded with many nutrients including vitamins A, C, and K, magnesium, manganese, and folate. Studies have shown that greens stored in darkness for long periods of time actually slowly lose nutrients. So when foraging for your greens look for the freshest available, avoiding pale, wilty leaves.  If available purchase locally grown or flash frozen if local spinach can’t be found.

Here at True Garden we have some of the freshest and best tasting “living” spinach around. Our farmstand is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9AM until 1PM and Thursdays from 3PM until 7PM.

Look here to find out about our CSA (community supported agriculture) program. Try it for a week or for the best value make the eight week commitment and enjoy the best greens and herbs packed especially for you every week.

So tumble on over, hope to see you real soon!
